Natalie Hodges Whidden, 96, of Wauchula, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Dade City, FL, on December 4, 1921 and moved to Wauchula as a young child. Natalie was a long-time employee of J.W. Earnest and Bealls Department Store.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dewey Whidden.
She is survived by her loving children, Dewey Whidden Jr. (Eddie) of Morgantown, W.Va., Ruth Roberts (Paul) of Dover, Fl., and Joel Whidden (Elva) of Wauchula. Natalie was the proud grandmother of five granddaughters, Kathy Tubbs (Alan) of Zolfo Springs, Miranda Abel (Mamoun) of Zolfo Springs, Melissa Wilson of Tampa, Briana Justiss (Joe) of Ft. Meade, Amanda Newman (John) of Valrico, along with honorary granddaughter McKenna Cobb (Tyler) of Wauchula, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Prior to her death, she was the longest living member of Faith Presbyterian Church. All who knew her admired her grace, wit, wisdom, service to others, and incredible kindness. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Our lives were forever enriched by knowing her.
Visitation will be held Saturday February 3, 2018 from 10AM -12noon with service immediately following at 12 noon at The Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funerals Home. Interment with follow at Wauchula Cemetery with Marcus Shackelford officiating.
